This formula from VE&CC Vets is straightforward yet properly balanced. Its fundamental protein source is ground turkey. Your pet will receive the benefits of the carrots, zucchini, and spinach. Not only are they packed with fundamental nutrients and minerals, but also a fair amount of fiber.
Ingredients
- 1 and 1/2 cups of fresh (not rancid) brown rice, or white rice
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
- 3 pounds of ground turkey
- 3 cups of cooked chopped spinach
- 2 finely chopped carrots
- 1 finely chopped zucchini
- 1/2 cup of peas
Notes
Cook the brown or white rice, put aside to cool.
Heat the olive oil in a stockpot over medium heat. Lightly sauté the ground turkey and cook until no pink remains, approximately 3-5 minutes. Make sure the turkey bits are well separated.
Mix in the vegetable and rice into the ground turkey. Cook this combination for another 3 to 5 minutes. After the spinach has wilted, remove from heat and let cool before serving to your pet.

First of all, do not use any processed meats. 🙂 Making a great, home-cooked meal for your dog can be as simple as mixing a few, healthy ingredients together and cooking in your slow cooker for portioning into meals when cooked and cooled.
Ingredients
- 2 and 1/2 to 3 pounds of boneless and skinless chicken (breasts and thighs)
- 1 Cubed yam
- 2 cut carrots
- 2 Cups of frozen peas
- 1 large, cubed apple (remove core and seeds)
- 1 container of rinsed kidney beans
- 2 Tablespoons of olive oil
Note
Put your chicken meat in your crockpot or slow-cooker and add sufficient water to cover. Heat until simmering. Add the potato, carrots, apple, and kidney beans. Set your cooker to the lowest setting and let it all cook for 6-8 hours.
Towards the end of the cooking cycle, add the frozen peas and let everything cook for an additional 30 minutes. If there is too much liquid, you can remove and save for the next cooking.
When completely done, add the olive oil and mix thoroughly. Then, blend in a food processor. Please be sure you serve to your pet when fully cooled. Delicious!
